Nursing

Shanon Biggs holds a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in technology, but she is currently a nursing student at the Terry Campus in Dover working to fulfill a dream.

"Becoming a nurse has always been a dream, and the SEED Scholarship is allowing me to fulfill that dream," Biggs said.

Biggs's choice to attend 91ÊÓƵÎÛÎÛ Tech was heavily influenced by the College's financial aid opportunities. The nursing program's exceptional reputation was also an important factor in her decision and the availability of night classes, because she works full-time as a teacher, was an added bonus.

Biggs is proud to be the first person in her family to graduate from college and the first to continue on to obtain a master's degree. She was also the first one in her immediate family, and the second in her close extended family, to have graduated from high school. "I believe my work ethic and determination has led me to success throughout the years. I was able to break the chain!"

She is in her second semester at 91ÊÓƵÎÛÎÛ Tech and her first semester of being on campus. "I am enjoying the other students, the teachers, and the ability to interact with others who are on the same path as me," Biggs said.

When she is not attending her nursing classes on campus, Biggs is an active member in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Since beginning her academic career at the College, Biggs has been focused and determined to achieve even more great things with the help and encouragement of her instructors. "They help my drive to continue on this path," she said.

Biggs recommends 91ÊÓƵÎÛÎÛ Tech as an excellent choice for prospective students. "They offer many degrees and opportunities for each student, and they provide amazing staff that want to see each student become successful."

Following graduation, Biggs would like to become a registered nurse, work at a nearby hospital, and then become a travel nurse. Her dream is to work in obstetrics as a labor and delivery nurse.
