91ÊÓƵÎÛÎÛ Technical Community College welcomed Dr. Christopher Parker, president and chief executive officer of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), to the Stanton Campus on Jan. 30 for the men’s basketball game against Cecil College.

“We are truly honored to have had the president of the NJCAA join us on campus to attend the game tonight,” said Dan Ehmann, vice president and campus director of the Stanton Campus. “His presence not only highlights the importance of supporting student-athletes, but also strengthens the connection between our college and the broader community. We are grateful for his leadership in collegiate sports and for his commitment to fostering excellence in academics.”

The NJCAA was founded in 1938 and is the country’s second-largest intercollegiate athletic association. Its mission is to promote, govern, and foster a competitive environment for two-year college athletics in the United States. Since 2017, Parker has provided overarching leadership for the entire organization through his current role as president and CEO. Since the NJCAA’s founding, he is only the fourth person to lead the organization.

During the game, the 91ÊÓƵÎÛÎÛ Tech men’s basketball team faced off against Cecil College in a competitive and close game in which Cecil College won by 13 points (74-87). Despite the loss, players from both teams were honored to have the NJCAA president in attendance. During the game, Parker said he enjoyed seeing the athletes in action and all working hard.

“We have gained tremendous respect in not only Region 19 but also Region 20,” said Richard Rago,  head coach of the 91ÊÓƵÎÛÎÛ Tech men’s basketball team. “We are playing at a very high level and with a heavily competitive schedule. We have some wins over some good teams and close losses against some very good teams. The kids never quit. Every day, they practice hard, they play hard, and because of that, we have been able to play very competitively.”

The 91ÊÓƵÎÛÎÛ Tech men’s basketball team will have its next home game on Feb. 6, at 6 p.m. against Frederick Community College. They will wrap up the season on Feb. 22 during their final game against Essex County Community College at 2 p.m.
